Kids Fashion Show

Last week, IJN Foundation held a Kids Fashion Show to launch its own children's wear, "Heartthrob Biri", which lined up children's clothing and painted shoes. Sales transactions of these line ups will help to pay the treatments of poor children in IJN. It's one of the IJN Foundation's way to help the helpless. Suasana Seni was honored to manage fashion show set up. So I had a chance to witness the launching. And as always.. it gives me new experience.. photographically and emotionally :)

Monkeys

Last week, I've got a task of photographing children for a clients Kid's Fashion Show invitation cards. I suddenly became not sure of shooting them. I don't know why. So I asked for a friend's help. Lucky for me, he got nothing to do on that day, except for a badminton training in the evening. He agreed to help me out. I promised him that we will be back on time before his training starts. That didn't happen. I sent him home one hour late. :P .. We got lost on the way to the clients house. And stopped by to shoot a group of monkeys behind a golf club! Although we were late, but the monkey was smiling and posing, waiting for us to shoot em. It was irresistible.
Here's the outcome of my kids photo-shoots. Aripudin became the O.P for the kids photo shoot job instead of me. I just filled my SD card with the monkey's pics. :P

And this week I got another task of photographing children. Same event, but different approach. Will Aripudin be there for me once again? hurmmmm.....

Assignments

Working in advertising field gave me loads of advantages. It sometimes involves photography and it gives me the opportunity to really work on it. Although so far I'm not satisfied with what I have accomplished in terms of producing the best out of it, but I'm proud when the pictures that I took, published! Through some post-editing, my not so good pics turns out well. There was this one time, we was doing a final artwork for an AGM booklet for a local bank at their head office, we were stuck with shortage of a picture to complement a page. I took out my camera, start arranging some brochures, put a stack of cash on it, using only available light from a window, I started clicking and viola'! It's done. As simple as that. That photo was approved to be used in a bank for its AGM book!  It is good to bring the camera around. You will never know when you need it. Since that AGM book, I have been given few more tasks. One of them is to take photographs of Institut Kraf Negara's student in action for their intake ad. A year before, we did some photography for them, but we hired a pro to do it. He came with a set of studio light! I was so impressed.. Now, I'm doing the same job without those expensive equipments. I was quite unsure bout it, but the job was done. The photos was published in local newspapers. Whole Malaysia can see my photos, they just don't know it was me! :P

P.O.R.T.R.A.I.T.S

When people ask me of my favorite photography style, I would say portraits. I appreciate the look that people give for occasions that make them happy, sad, supprised, or just simply that smile to pose infront of the camera. A portrait can tell so many story. I just can't go bored with them. There is so many ways to capture them. The learning curve in making a portrait is steep. The textures on the face, the color of the make-ups, the emotions  etc... I think I got a project to do.. :P , I'm going to make as many portraits as possible. As for now, I don't have alot of portraits in my photo library. These are some of the portraits that I have so far. Enjoy! I will be back on this topic..

the journey began...

Why didn't I put it as 'The Journey Begins.."? Well.. the story is that, I wanted to start blogging as soon as  I got my first DSLR.. to write about what I see thru my eyes.. and what I captured thru the lens.. but that never happened. I couldn't find the time to it.. (well.. its not I have alot now.. but it has to start somewhere rite?) Like people always say.. " a long journey starts with a small step.." There's alot of pictures has been captured in the past eight month.. but I cant share it all here.. can i? So for starters.. let me share with y'all the first few pics on my first day with the camera.. :P

These was captured on the first day I got the DSLR, one of the wedding gift my wife got me. This was a day after our reception.. before we returned the wedding dress. My wife posed as the model.. as we wanted to do a pre-wedding photography. I had loads of theory on photography, it was the first time applying it. It was on a hot sunny day.. and it was HOT!.. I guess this is the price all those pro-photog must pay in order to get good shots. No wonder they charged so much.. :P
